Dr Christos Koutsidis

Mr Christos Koutsidis is a Consultant Ophthalmologist & Surgeon at The Retina Clinic London, with a particular focus on cataract surgery, anterior segment care, and personalised visual rehabilitation. He provides cataract surgery, including complex cataract surgery, alongside retina and anterior chamber consultations, as well as pterygium surgery with autotransplantation.

He takes a highly personalised and refractive approach to cataract surgery, carefully tailoring each treatment plan to the condition of the eye, the patient’s lifestyle, and their visual priorities. He offers a range of intraocular lens options, including toric lenses to reduce astigmatism, as well as monofocal, monofocal plus, and extended depth of focus lenses. Each patient has a detailed consultation with him to determine the lens option best suited to their eye and to the quality of vision they wish to achieve. For carefully selected patients with central vision loss caused by geographic atrophy, he also offers the Samsara lens in collaboration with Professor Paulo Eduardo Stanga.

Mr Koutsidis has trained and worked across the UK, Greece, Germany, and Russia, giving him broad clinical exposure and an international perspective on patient care. Alongside his anterior segment practice, he has developed strong expertise in medical retina, multimodal imaging, and the assessment of complex retinal disease. He completed fellowship training in Medical Retina and Vitreoretinal Imaging at The Retina Clinic London under Professor Paulo Eduardo Stanga, contributing to specialist retinal care, advanced diagnostic imaging, and clinical research. His work has also included involvement in international clinical trials in geographic atrophy, age-related macular degeneration, Stargardt disease, Usher syndrome, and inherited retinal disease, reflecting his commitment to innovation and evidence-based care.
