Mr Park initially met Professor Stanga as a trainee in the NHS and worked under his supervision. When looking to fill surgical positions at The Retina Clinic London, Professor Stanga did not doubt in inviting Mr Park to join his team.
Mr Park is a Double Board-Certified, fellowship-trained Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Honorary Associate Clinical Professor at the Warwick Medical School, University of Warwick.
Mr Park combines private practice with work in the National Health Service (NHS), where he holds a position as Honorary Consultant at the Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre and VR Surgeon at the University Hospitals Coventry & Warwick NHS Trust.
He is currently registered on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register (GMC No. 6145572) and accredited with a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Ophthalmology.
Mr Park studied Medicine at St Andrews University Medical School, followed by Clinical Studies concluded at University of Manchester, graduating with BSc (Med Sci) in 2003, followed by MB ChB in 2006. As a medical student, Mr Park won the prestigious RCPCH Medical Student Prize Award.
His House Officerships were served at the University Hospitals in Birmingham and subsequent run-through specialty training in Ophthalmology at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
After completion of Specialist Training (CCT) in Ophthalmology, he prestigiously became a Fellow of both the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) and the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO) in 2015. Mr Park then supplemented his practice with an additional three years of formal sub-specialty fellowship training with advanced post-CCT Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowships at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College London Healthcare NHS Trust.
Mr Park is distinguished for his surgical expertise and for providing patients with a comprehensive approach to safe, effective, and minimally invasive treatment for an extensive variety of eye conditions. Mr Park’s impressive capability was evident early in his career as a junior ophthalmology surgical trainee when he was audited to be the best performing cataract surgeon among NW trainee surgeons in the UK.
Mr Park was the first UK surgeon to successfully introduce air tamponade for surgical management of retinal detachment and is currently pioneering innovative vitreoretinal surgical techniques for lamellar macular holes. Additionally, Mr Park is an active researcher and current peer-reviewer for the Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, having authored multiple peer-reviewed publications for prestigious journals and presented his research at numerous national and international conferences.
His surgical expertise encompasses all aspects of cataract and retinal surgery including complex cataracts and secondary lens implant complications, vitreoretinal surgery for macular conditions including macular holes and epiretinal membrane, and the surgical management of acute and chronic retinal detachments.
Mr Park is also a keen educator, currently serving as Honorary Associate Clinical Professor & Clinical Tutor at Warwick Medical School, University of Warwick. He is closely involved in educating both medical students & optometrists; his dedication evidenced through his recent nominations and successful attainment of awards for both Clinical Teaching Excellence and Clinical Tutor Award at Warwick Medical School. Mr Park is committed to quality patient care through training the future generation of ophthalmology surgeons in cataract and vitreoretinal surgeries.
