Our Expertise
At The Retina Clinic London, we pride ourselves on offering leading-edge retinal care and advanced treatment solutions for various eye conditions. Our clinic, under the direction of Professor Paulo Stanga, is equipped with the latest technology and imaging devices, ensuring precise diagnostics and world-class treatments.
Clinical Imaging and Medical Devices
Our facility boasts a comprehensive range of non-invasive imaging technologies, essential for the accurate diagnosis and management of retinal conditions. We employ state-of-the-art tools, including Swept-Source Optical Coherence Tomography (SS-OCT) and Ultra-Widefield Imaging, to capture detailed images of the retina, aiding in early detection of diseases like Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and Diabetic Retinopathy.
Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)
AMD affects the macula, the central part of the retina, leading to difficulty seeing fine details. We offer advanced treatments for both Dry AMD and Wet AMD, as well as access to clinical trials.
We are unique in offering the only private AMD screening service: regular AMD screenings are recommended for people over 50 or with a family history of the condition.

Diabetic Eye Disease
Diabetic Retinopathy and Diabetic Maculopathy are complications of diabetes that can lead to vision loss. Early detection through regular screenings is key to managing these conditions.
Screening Service: Our Private Diabetic Eye Screening Service uses advanced imaging technologies to detect early retinal changes before symptoms arise.

Vitreous Floaters and Opacities
At The Retina Clinic London, we specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of vitreous floaters and opacities, which can interfere with clear vision. These small shapes or strands are often a result of natural changes in the vitreous gel within the eye. While many floaters are harmless, some may indicate more serious conditions such as retinal tears or detachment. We offer a range of treatment options, including YAG laser vitreolysis and limited vitrectomy, designed to safely and effectively manage floaters, restoring visual clarity and enhancing quality of life. However, sudden onset of floaters may indicate a more serious condition like retinal tears or a retinal detachment.
We also offer treatments for bothersome vitreous floaters and opacities (VFO), which are not linked to an urgent condition but cause havoc in a person’s daily life.

Research and Clinical Trials
Our clinic is renowned for its pioneering clinical trials, offering patients access to innovative treatments for conditions such as AMD, Diabetic Maculopathy, and Inherited Retinal Dystrophies. These trials are often available at no cost to the patient and reflect our commitment to advancing retinal care.

Uveitis
Uveitis refers to inflammation of the middle layer of the eye, which can lead to complications such as retinal swelling. We provide comprehensive care for uveitis, including imaging to detect inflammation and tailored treatment plans involving steroids or immunosuppressants, depending on the cause and severity.
